ABOUT FGSB 2026

The FGSB symposium and workshop is an international symposia that is dedicated towards providing a platform for the dissemination of knowledge in the fields of Functional Genomics and Structural Biology as well as other associated scientific fields. Organised as its fifth series, this year's theme is "Beyond the Sequence: Decoding the Dynamic Architecture of Life in the Era of AI".

On behalf of the Organising Committee, we are pleased to invite you to the 5th Functional Genomics and Structural Biology Symposium and Workshop (FGSB 2026), jointly organised by Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and Codon Genomics. This event explores the latest advancements in functional genomics and structural biology, which provides essential insights into protein structure and functions. As the knowledge derived from these areas drives major breakthroughs at the new frontiers of science, our primary objective is to provide a venue for researchers to present recent findings and explore multi-disciplinary collaborations. The field is currently undergoing a paradigm shift driven by single-cell multi-omics, spatial transcriptomics, and the integration of Artificial Intelligence in predicting protein folding and interactions with unprecedented accuracy. The symposium features two days of scientific presentations covering a broad spectrum of high-throughput molecular techniques and computational modelling, all contributing to gene discovery in the post-genome era. Following the symposium, a two-day workshop will offer theoretical knowledge and hands-on training in shot-gun metagenomics analysis.
